Training Opportunity for Online Instructors

E-Learning Development & Support is offering an online course for future online teachers and current online teacher who want to learn more about teaching online.

This is not a course to learn the mechanics of Moodle, but rather the pedagogy of teaching online.

There is no charge for the individuals who complete the course. In order to assure the best use of our training dollars, there is a $250 charge for individuals that sign up and do not attend or fail to complete the course.

Course Title: Online Courses: Step-by-Step

Time: Start date is August 23. Since the course is online you work on the course at times that are convenient to your schedule.

Format: Online – 3 Weeks – 1 Module per week

Modules:

Module 1: Online Pedagogy - Discover how teaching methods differ between the traditional and online classrooms – and how they don’t. You will get an in-depth look at:

*History of the virtual classroom

*Best practices for online teaching

* Content delivery methods

*Class interaction and discussion

*ADA issues in online education

*Copyright issues

* And more.

Module 2: Design and Assessment - In this module, you will learn about the tools you have at your disposal as an online educator. You will see how those tools can be applied to:

*Reconceptualizing your course

*Guideline for development

*Designing lesson plans

*Using Quality Matters™

*Understanding assessment*Grading

*Peer communication

*Teacher-student communication

Module 3: The Tools– Here, you will see how to work with your tech support team to put your courses online. You will cover each step:

*Class discussion

*Assignments

*Use of blogs, wikis, and other

social media tools

*Integrating video and other media

*Using audio feedback

* And more

By the program’s end, you will have the knowledge you need to teach online and the confidence that you are doing it right.
